Educational toys for toddlers and preschoolers, sourced from liquidation inventory and customer returns. The collection focuses on letter recognition, sound recognition, pretend play with a learning angle, early-walker support, and bedtime story projection. Each toy is tested for function and condition-tagged before listing in our Toronto warehouse. The selection rotates through the year — the largest batch lands in January after the holiday gift returns season, and a smaller batch arrives in late summer before the back-to-school period.
What “learning” covers at this age
The toys in this collection target three early-childhood developmental areas. Language and letters: train-shaped letter toys, vocabulary toys, and book-and-projector combos that introduce letter sounds, numbers, and short stories. Pretend play with role-modelling: carrier toys that include a stuffed companion and accessories that prompt feeding, dressing, and care-giving routines — this kind of play is recognised by early-childhood educators as one of the strongest predictors of later vocabulary growth. Gross motor support: sit-to-stand walkers that double as a play surface when the child is sitting and become a push-walker once standing is mastered. Each product page identifies the manufacturer-recommended age range; we do not adjust those ranges. The collection skews toward ages 1 to 5; products intended for infants under 12 months are listed in the Baby Essentials collection instead.
Battery-powered electronics: what to expect
Most learning toys in this collection use AA or AAA batteries that are not included with the toy. Plan for 3 to 6 batteries per toy depending on the model. Battery doors are typically secured with a Phillips screw, which is required for child safety regulations in Canada. Volume controls are present on most toys but cannot always be muted — a small minimum volume is intentional so parents know when the toy is on. We list battery requirements on every product page; if the original specification card is missing from an open-box unit, we note the requirement we measured during inspection. Some learning toys have a sleep timer or auto-off after a few minutes of inactivity to extend battery life; that feature is mentioned where present.
How long these toys stay interesting
Learning toys generally hold a child’s interest for nine to eighteen months before the educational content is no longer challenging. Letter-and-number toys peak at age 2–3, when the child is actively learning their alphabet. Vocabulary toys with role-play accessories hold up longer because the child invents new scenarios as language grows. Sit-to-stand walkers are useful from 9 to 18 months, after which they become slightly oversized for the child. Story projector and bedtime toys remain in regular use longer because the content updates with additional story discs or books. We mention age ranges and typical interest span on each product page so parents can budget the gift cycle.
Conditions and inspection
Each toy is powered on with fresh batteries to confirm sound, lights, and motorised functions where applicable. Plastic surfaces are inspected for cracks, sharp edges, and chew marks. Brand New arrived in sealed packaging. Open-Box is a return that was opened but unused; we check every part is present. Opened for Inspection means we unwrapped the toy to bench-test it and confirm all included accessories — figurines, books, attachable parts, story discs — are in the box. We do not list toys with visible chew marks, broken speakers, missing accessories that affect the core function, or sharp plastic edges from prior damage.
Shipping and support
Toys ship from our Toronto warehouse in standard parcel boxes. Orders placed before 1 p.m. ET are processed within 24 business hours. Prices are in CAD. If a toy arrives non-functional, send a short video showing the issue within 7 days and we will arrange a replacement or refund. Larger sit-to-stand walkers ship with assembly required (four to six screws); the assembly instructions are included in the box and also linked on the product page.
