Every blanket in this collection is inspected and tagged with one of three condition labels so you know what you are buying before you check out. Inventory rotates monthly — the exact mix of sizes and prints available depends on what arrives at our Toronto warehouse from manufacturer overstock, retail returns, and seasonal closeouts.

How kids weighted blankets are typically used at home

Weighted blankets provide gentle, even pressure across the body, a sensation that many parents and occupational therapists describe as calming for bedtime routines. The general guideline followed by major manufacturers is to pick a weight close to 10 percent of the child’s body weight. A 30 lb toddler usually pairs with a 3 lb blanket, a 50 lb child with a 5 lb blanket, and a 70 lb child with a 7 lb blanket. The 10 lb blanket in this collection is intended for larger kids or pre-teens. Weighted blankets are not recommended for infants under 12 months or for children unable to lift the blanket off themselves. They are intended as a top layer on an existing bed, not as a primary blanket, and should not be tucked under the mattress on the sides — the pressure works best when the blanket lays freely across the child.

Sizes, fill, and cover materials in this collection

Two sizes are present today: 36″×48″, designed to lay across a child on a twin or toddler bed, and 41″×60″, sized for a longer bed or for a child who wants to wrap up while reading on the couch. All blankets in this collection are 100% breathable cotton with quilted box-stitch construction. The fill is glass micro-beads sewn into compartments so the weight stays evenly distributed during sleep. Cover styles alternate between plain gray and printed designs such as dinosaurs and unicorns. The cover is the part that touches the skin; manufacturers use a tight-weave cotton specifically because it stays cool overnight, unlike polyester minky covers that can trap heat in summer. The internal fill compartment is sewn shut and is not designed to be opened, so the entire blanket is washed as one piece.

Care, washing, and how long they last

Manufacturers of glass-bead weighted blankets generally recommend cold or warm machine wash on a gentle cycle, and tumble dry on low. Hot water can shrink the cotton cover and degrade the stitching that holds the bead compartments in place; high-heat drying speeds the same wear. Smaller 3 lb and 5 lb blankets fit in most home washers; 7 lb and 10 lb blankets are at the upper edge of what a standard top-loader can handle, and some families prefer to use a laundromat for those. With normal weekly washing, a well-made glass-bead blanket typically lasts three to five years before the cover starts pilling at the corners. We do not list blankets with visible pilling, fading at the edges, or any sign of bead leakage.

Condition tags and what they mean

Every product at LiquiSale carries a condition tag. Brand New means the blanket has never been used and arrived in its original sealed packaging. Open-Box means the packaging was opened, usually for a customer return, but the blanket itself shows no signs of use; we re-fold and inspect each one before relisting. Opened for Inspection is the same idea but applied to items where we needed to remove the blanket from packaging to verify stitching, fill distribution, or absence of stains. We do not list any blanket with visible wear, odour, compromised stitching, or any sign of prior use such as pet hair or fabric softener residue. Each tag is shown on the product page and on the listing image so you can filter by condition before adding to cart.

All blankets ship from our Toronto warehouse and arrive anywhere in Canada within standard transit times. Orders placed before 1 p.m. ET are processed within 24 business hours. Prices are in CAD and include the full handling, with no hidden surcharges on the smaller 3 lb and 5 lb units. If a blanket arrives in a condition that does not match its tag, send us a photo within 7 days and we will arrange a replacement or full refund — whichever you prefer.
